Academic Learning Center was establish in 1996 in the First Missionary Baptist Church in the Logan Community in Concord. In 2001, we partnered with the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City School Systems, and United Way, to develop the current model for delivering tutoring services. This school year, ALC is partnering with 12 elementary sc

In 2001, we partnered with the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City School Systems, and United Way, to develop the current model for delivering tutoring services. This school year, ALC is partnering with 12 elementary schools to provide tutoring on site at each of these schools, serving approximately 550 students.

The Academic Learning Center's goal is to assist children, through the school and teachers, toward improving their academic performance. ALC students strive for higher attendance and are more confident in their ability to participate in regular classroom lessons. Academic Learning Center is a separate organization from the school system

Academic Learning Center is a separate organization from the school system and depends on private funding from foundations, businesses and individuals to run its program. Every dollar spent is carefully allocated to make the best use of available money. .
